Indoor Cooking Working Group

Nyaya has established a working group to develop solutions to improve indoor cooking  ventilation. Nearly all households use poorly-ventilated wood stoves for household cooking needs.  This has led to severe mortality and morbidity from respiratory tract infections, asthma, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, particularly among women. The working group is developing a program of alternative stove manufacturing, installation, maintenance, and operations research to reduce morbidity and mortality from the smoke generated by "dirty" stoves.
