Preparing a Laptop for Donation

Your generosity is much appreciated; laptops are extremely well-utilized by the Nyaya Health team in Nepal.  An effective laptop should have the following characteristics:

• it should be rugged
• it should not have any existing problems or issues
• it should be relatively new, either purchased or completely refurbished within the last 1-2 years
• it should have reasonable specs; a general rule is that if its specifications are not acceptable in the US they are unlikely to be in Achham 

To ensure that your donation is put to the best possible use, please do as many of the prior to donating your laptop.  If you have any difficulties with any of these steps, please ask us to assist you.

1.  Locate all installation CDs and device drivers

2.  Completely reformat the computer, preferably from a professional computer store (this should cost around 30 dollars).

3.  Ensure that the device drivers for sound/mic, ethernet, wireless are all working properly. 

4.  Provide in some sort of laptop bag or carrying case.

5.  If needed, you may request Nyaya for documentation pertaining to the tax-deductibility of your gift.
