The advisory board serves the functions of providing occassional technical advice, identifying sources of funding or in-kind donations, and lending their personal prestige/cache to Nyaya.  Ideally, the advisor should have a long-term interest in Nepal since that will make it more likely they will be useful.  Advisors without a particular interest in Nepal may be invited if they are particularly stellar/widely known/respected.  You should send the entire current board of directors an email prior to inviting a new advisory board member; a formal vote is not required.  Giving the board 72 hours to respond in case they have serious objections (very unlikely) is prudent.  It is the job of all board of directors members to continue to keep the board of advisors active and up-to-date.  Additionally, the board must work together to ensure that diversity of fields (e.g., not just infectious diseases) is represented on the advisory board and that gender is well-balanced.

The role of the Board of Advisors is to provide technical advice to Nyaya Health. Your involvement may require as little or as much time commitment as you wish.  Most Board of Advisors offer advice predominantly over email and telephone and may never visit our clinic site.  Others, however, may engage in a more active role and may even take the three days' journey to Achham. Your role would be made as efficient as possible; we do not require in-person meetings or submission of reports.  It is rather an informal agreement to work with our members to provide advice and support.  By agreeing to join the Board of Advisors of Nyaya Health, your only formal obligation is to allow your name to be posted with a link to your professional page on the website of nyayahealth.org. Additionally, we request that you not use your affiliation with Nyaya Health for personal political or financial gain.
