PrimaryCareProtocols

Page history last edited by rumaraj@gmail.com 10 mos ago

This page provides an index of our primary care protocols, which we are in the process of posting online (this page is under construction).

Typically, the protocols are one page in flow chart format, symptoms-focused, and implementable by the skills of a mid-level practitioner and feasible within the context of a resource-poor remote rural health clinic.

A major aim of these protocols is to screen for "acute, treatable, measurable" conditions that a nascent health system needs to focus on (and subsidize medicines for). Additionally, we will identify chronic conditions that are feasible to treat and measure outcomes for in our setting. More discussion of the justification for this approach is available at our Triage page.

For protocols that we have uploaded, click on the blue link to download the pdf of our protocol. Together, the long-term vision of these protocols, together with our triage system, is to provide an efficacious, cost-effective, and scalable model for achieving the largest public health impact during the rollout of horizontally-integrated essential medical services in remote, impoverished, or conflict affected ares with minimal existing health infrastructure.
