Time Series of Pharmaceutical Procurement at the Nyaya Health Clinic
A few notes on this chart:
-the individual balls represent classes of medicines; the colors indicate overall categories of medicines.
-by scrolling your cursor over the ball you can see which class of medicine and what its monthly total patients and costs were.
-by clicking on one of the balls you can track that particular class over time
-these values are tabulated on a monthly basis. the values you see are thus totals summed across a given month. owing to a glitch with the current version of google motion charts, the time series can only be represented by dates.
-the approximate exchange rate is approximately 65 NRs: $1USD. Hence each 10,000 NRs is approximately $150USD.
-data prior to June 2009 is from operations at the Sanfe Clinic, after June 2009 data is from Bayalpata Hospital operations.

relevant timings to go along with this chart:
April 6, 2008: opening of the clinic. At this point, most essential medicines were provided free-of-cost; others were provided at 30% discount off our bulk purchase price.
July 14, 2008: removed the 5 Rs registration fee and any pharmaceutical sales; 100% free clinic. this led to a large spike in the patient volume, from about 70 per day to 140 per day over the course of the month.
Sept 10, 2008: instituted new Triage protocol for lower back pain which evaluated lower back pain for treatable causes and in their absence prescribed but ceased to dispense analgesics for pain management. The prescribed drugs would be sold and dispensed by local private practitioners; see Pharmaceuticals. This led to a decrease particularly in NSAID usage.
Sept 15, 2008: instituted a similar program for dyspepsia/GERD to screen for treatable conditions and if not provide a prescription to be filled by a private medical practitioners. This led to a decrease particularly in H2 blockers and PPIs.
